In 2015, the United States reported an estimated 39,700 fires at industrial and manufacturing sites, with the majority occurring at agricultural and manufacturing/processing properties. Of these, 8,600 were structural fires, which accounted for 9 of the 15 of the lives lost in industrial fires and 220 of the 280 related injuries.
While prudent companies and organizations have detailed emergency response procedures and run fire drills every few months, challenges remain inappropriate responses to emergencies such as workplace fires. Considering that more than 40% of structural fires spread beyond the room of origin, how are emergency responders to know if everyone inside has made it out safely and if not, where they are within the building?
CareBand can also be used in fire emergencies to help responders determine who has made it out of the building and to direct firefighters to the locations of those who remain in the building.
CareBand wearable devices are equipped with state-of-the-art beacon technology and GPS, which allow them to transmit the wearer’s precise indoor and outdoor location to assist emergency responders. Perimeter beacons placed at building exits can monitor when a wearer has exited the building and the CareBand Portal displays a building floor plan with the location of any wearers still inside.
