Amazon and CareBand embark on a new Sidewalk pilot program to support people living with dementia. Read more here.

We are extremely excited to share that CareBand and Amazon Sidewalk are actively exploring ways to empower older adults living with dementia.

What is Amazon Sidewalk?

Amazon Sidewalk is a neighborhood network designed to make your devices work better – both inside your home and beyond the front door. Operated by Amazon, Sidewalk uses Bluetooth, the 900 MHz long-range spectrum, and other frequencies to simplify new device setup, extend the low-bandwidth working range of devices, and help devices communicate even if they are outside the range of home wifi.

CareBand and Amazon Sidewalk: How will it work?

Today, CareBand LoRaWAN devices are active in several senior living communities (i.e., skilled nursing and assisted living communities) and used in NIH-funded research studies. With Amazon Sidewalk, CareBand has an opportunity to expand its solution to older adults who are and want to remain living at home. Currently, CareBand is in a pilot and plans to test the capabilities of Amazon Sidewalk in providing vital services to CareBand customers throughout this year.

What’s Next for CareBand and Amazon Sidewalk?

CareBand will continue to engage and test the capabilities of Amazon Sidewalk this year. Stay tuned for exciting details in the near future!
