National Institute on Aging grantees awarded funding to present
CareBand, Inc has been chosen as one of five companies to present in the National Institutes of Health/National Institute on Aging (NIA) showcase at the 17th Annual What’s Next Longevity Venture Summit to be held June 24-25, 2020 and July 21, 2020.
Each of the selected companies are grant recipients awarded through the NIA Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program. During the virtual conference, each company will share their technologies and how they are making a difference in the lives of older adults today.
- CareBand is a wearable solution that enables people living with dementia to stay safe, function at their highest level of independence, and avoid unnecessary hospitalizations while giving caregivers peace of mind. Awarded SBIR funding to determine whether CareBand can detect agitation in people living with dementia. NIA grant number R43AG063685.
- care.coach avatars combine human and artificial intelligence to conversationally engage psychosocially and medically complex individuals. By coaching self-care behaviors, care.coach has been shown to reduce loneliness, delirium, and falls, and to reduce home care and hospital/ED utilization. NIA grant number R44AG062014.
- The MapHabit System is focused on the neuroscience of habit to help memory-impaired individuals and caregivers accomplish activities and improve independent function. Awarded SBIR funding to develop software that uses visual mapping techniques as habit-based assistive technology for individuals and their caregivers. NIA grant number R43AG065081.
- OneClick.chat is a social engagement platform designed to make it easier for older adults to engage with friends, family, and peers over video chat. NIA grant number R44AG059450.
- Sonica Health is a remote monitoring technology company commercializing a novel, soft, and flexible sensor deployed on the suprasternal notch. Our technology is able to continuously capture novel digital biomarkers of high relevance to older adults with an initial focus on dysphagia and loneliness sensing. NIA grant number R41AG062023.
This year’s summit is shaping up with to be an outstanding event.
